A free webinar for HR leaders

Can motivation be trained and developed, like a skill?

What changes when you understand motivation — and how that creates the conversations that change behaviour.

16 June | 12:30 | 55 minutes | Online via Microsoft Teams Webinars

Delivered by Susannah Brade-Waring — one of the world's most experienced Motivational Maps practitioners, with over 30 years helping organisations improve performance, retention, and engagement.

This is for you if...

You are an HR Director, Head of HR, People Director, or senior HR leader.

You already use profiling tools or engagement surveys in your work.

You value culture, but you're under pressure to show that your people investment is delivering ROI.

You want to influence decisions earlier, not just respond after problems land.

You know there is often more going on beneath undesirable behaviour, but want a better way to resolve it.

"Incredibly useful in so many ways, from helping to unearth underlying mental health issues with struggling employees, to guiding employees in their career path. I worked with managers, helping them to understand their teams better, in order to work more effectively with them, gain their trust and encourage them to become more confident in their roles."

I’ll be honest - I went into my Motivational Maps training expecting a solid, practical day. And maybe a bit of screen fatigue.

What I got instead was something energising, personal and genuinely tailored. Working with Susannah Brade-Waring, MSc, MD of Aspirin Business Solutions, and one other participant, the day quickly moved away from “content” and into something really really useful.

The real problem isn't a lack of data - it's having usable data.

Most profiling tools describe how someone behaves. They don't explain what that person needs, what's missing, or why the same pattern keeps showing up.

So managers are left with observations but no language. Concern but no evidence. Intention but no structure for the conversation.

Frustration builds. Trust quietly erodes. A strong person starts to disengage and nobody can quite explain why. Stress rises. People leave. Conflict goes unresolved.

And HR is called in — not to prevent the problem, but to manage the fallout.

What's missing is that managers don't have the data or the understanding to create the conversations that change behaviour.

Motivation is different.

Unlike personality, motivation isn't fixed. It can be measured, understood, and discussed. Therefore, can it be developed — like a skill?

When a manager understands what actually drives someone's behaviour, something shifts. The conversation moves from "you seem disengaged" to something that builds trust, understanding, and changes behaviour.

That changes the role of management — from managing underperformance, to understanding and resolving what drives it.

And it changes the role of HR — from picking up the pieces, to getting ahead of the problem.

Here's what this webinar gives you

In this webinar, I'll show you:

  • Why motivation — not personality or behaviour — is the missing language in most people strategies

  • How unmet motivational needs show up as conflict, disengagement, and retention risk

  • How to help people develop real ownership of their own motivation and performance

  • How to give managers evidence, language, and a practical conversation framework — so the conversations they've been avoiding feel possible

  • How to change the role of HR from picking up the pieces to being genuinely influential and demonstrating clear ROI

This isn't about replacing what you already use. It's about adding the missing language that makes it work.

The real problem isn't insight. It's what happens without it.

When managers don't understand what's driving someone, conversations get vague, softened, or avoided altogether.

Frustration builds. Trust quietly erodes. A strong person starts to disengage and nobody can quite explain why. Stress rises. People leave. Conflict goes unresolved.

And HR is called in — not to prevent the problem, but to manage the fallout.

Most profiling tools describe how someone behaves. They don't explain what that person needs, what's missing, or why the same pattern keeps showing up.

Motivation is different.

Unlike personality, motivation isn't fixed. It can be measured, understood, and developed — like a skill.

When a manager understands what actually drives someone, something shifts. The conversation moves from "you don't quite seem yourself lately" to something specific, honest, and genuinely useful.

That changes the role of management — from managing underperformance, to understanding and resolving what drives it.

And it changes the role of HR — from picking up the pieces, to getting ahead of the problem.

About your host

Susannah Brade-Waring
Senior Practitioner & Director, Motivated Performance

I've spent nearly 20 years helping organisations understand what actually drives their people. I've worked with teams at John Lewis, Waitrose, BCP Council, AgeUK, and dozens of professional services firms — from law firms to social housing providers.

I'm one of the UK's most experienced Motivational Maps practitioners, and I've trained HR professionals across the country to use this data to solve the problems that keep turning up in their inbox.

I've also built a business myself, taking a technology company from start-up to a £10+ million management buyout. I know what it's like to want to do more meaningful work and feel like the demands around you won't give you the space to do it.

That experience is part of why this webinar exists.
